What’s Hot: Dessert wedding favor trend
Thinking about your wedding favors and looking for something new? Take a look at the latest trend in wedding desserts/favors – cheesecake pops! These are incredibly delicious, and because they are bite sized you can have a few without feeling {as} guilty. And the individual serving size allows you to offer a larger variety of flavors than if you ordered whole cakes. I truly don’t see a down side to this idea!
Some brides have asked “How would you include these at my wedding?” The way I see it, there are three great options:
1. Dessert bar: The straight lines created in this display allow guests to easily peruse the cheesecake options. Sugar comes in every shade of the rainbow, so you can integrate color and keeps the pops standing upright.
2. Escort cards: your stationery vendor can produce personalized flags with your guests names on the front and table assignments on the back. Dessert before dinner may not work for everyone, but most of your guests will be excited.
3. Favors: at the Simply Elegant Wedding Expo this past weekend we had two cheesecake pops in a favor bag for brides that visited our booth. You can do this at the end of your reception for guests – with a custom tag thanking them for sharing in your wedding day.
Just don’t forget to communicate with your caterer! They can keep the cheesecake pops refrigerated until the time is right, so long as you let them know ahead of time.
A huge thanks to I Dream of Jeanne Cakes for the pops. I highly recommend Jeanne’s culinary skills for any wedding dessert!

Concept photo shoot – photos!!
This weekend we meet up with Tyra Bleek of Tyra Bleek Photography for a photo shoot and couldn’t be more thrilled with the outcome! It took a bit of planning and designing to come up with the style, details, and decor but it was worth every moment.
How did this all begin? It started with about the most generic thought anyone could muster: “I would like to create a 1920s style photo shoot.” There was something appealing about the elegance and glamour of the time that is vintage but extravagant — even if vintage isn’t your style, the sophistication of the Roaring 20s has a certain appeal that can inspire even the most lavish weddings.
We employed a pink, black, white, and silver color palette. A blush pink table cloth with a black and white runner was the backdrop for the centerpiece display and table setting. After promising to take excellent care of the family silver, we took candelabras and trays from the hutch and started pulling the details together.
It was a true pleasure working with Tyra. She has an incredibly way of working with people so that even the most nervous grooms are comfortable being in front of her lens — the most important quality in a photographer (in my opinion). It means that in your wedding photos you will be the naturally beautiful, relaxed, smiling person that everyone loves. Add to this her eye for great shots, professionalism, and creativity and you have a great photographer on your hands (or in your wedding vendor list!).

{cup}cakes!
Wherever you fall in the wedding cake debate — fondant vs butter cream, 3 vs 8 tiers, cake vs cupcakes — there is just one consensus: we ALL want dessert!
So what’s the big deal?! Why all the fuss?! It is a matter of taste, style, and sometimes the amount of “hoopla” that you (don’t) want concerning your dessert.
Cupcakes made center stage in the wedding industry a while ago, but we continue to see unique takes on wedding cupcakes. Here are some of my favorite cupcakes!
1) Wedding ‘themed’ cupcakes
Think “a perfect pair” or “love birds”, because frosting can be any color!
2) Pretty paper
The decorative papers dress up even the most traditional cupcakes.
3) Mini cupcakes
What’s better than having 2… or 3…. or more…
{ baby cakes }
4) Multiple flavors or fillings
You love chocolate with strawberry frosting, but your fiance can’t get enough red velvet – what do you do?! What about a fruit filling? The more the merrier, I say!

5) Groom’s cupcakes
Well, if he really wanted some kind of ‘groom’s dessert’, why not keep with the cupcake idea?

6) The extra-large, cut-able cupcake
Why cut a mini cake when you can share an extra-large cupcake with your husband/wife!
Now all you need is a (cup)cake cutting song… I love the Beatles’ When I’m 64.

Inspiration Board: Ski Challet
Winter is almost over and spring is around the corner, so get in that last ski weekend and start to break out the pastel sweaters!
{ bed and breakfast | shoes | bouquet }
{ bridesmaids | wedding wishes | ski lift | bride and groom }
{ chandelier | invite | cake | bride }
The local Brides magazines have a feature on weddings inspired by children’s books – so if I were to equate this with a book it would be a wintry romance, or the wardrobe adventure of The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.
The inspiration for this board started with the top left photo of the bed and breakfast covered in snow. It just looks serene, making it picture perfect for wedding inspiration.
If snow will accompany your wedding day, soft hues of pastel pink, blue, and silver will accent the surroundings. With the color palette a 1920s vintage feel creates a depth to the decor that offers an almost swanky feel. Think feathers, sheath dresses, sleek hair, gin, and a live band. Sounds like a swinging good time!
And if you choose, make that 1920s with a modern ski lift…

Inspiration Board: Bold and Beautiful
Emerald green, navy blue, and bright pink make a bold and beautiful statement. For the right couple this can be quite a stunning backdrop for their wedding.
{ bouquet | invite | bride | guest book }
{ cake | bridesmaid | arrangement | groomsman }
{ program | venue }
My favorite elements:
- Mojitos – a tasty and naturally color-coordinated beverage!
- Pink peonies and navy dresses – the color literally pops off the screen
- Suits with bright boutonnieres – tuxes aren’t appropriate for every wedding, and in this case the suit is well dressed with a stylish tie
- Indoor venue – this color pallet is too often associated with outdoor, sea-side weddings. Be Bold – take this one inside!
Enjoy your Thursday! Friday!

Inspiration Board: Winter Warmth
First, I apologize for my infrequent posts as of late. Things are getting busy so I have neglected the blog a bit. But, for this Fabulous Friday, I thought to share some beautiful inspiration to help make winter a bit warmer…
The individual pictures for this board highlight the details I love in a wedding. All are well thought out, beautifully integrated, and are delightfully understated.

Of all the photos, my favorite is the top left picture of a reception space. This is actually a tented space – who would have guessed? The comfortable chairs and sleek design is elegant and the tapered candles provide the perfect touch for a simple centerpiece.
I have some good things in the works this weekend – and am waiting for Real Wedding photos from one of our October weddings – so I’m looking forward to seeing you Monday. Enjoy your weekend!
